Turkey: Six killed in bomb blasts near police stations

Turkish officials say at least six people have been killed and scores wounded when two car bombs exploded in the eastern part of the country. A large explosion rocked an area near a police station in the eastern Turkish town of Elazig and three police officers were killed, Turkish media reported, hours after a car bomb killed three people elsewhere in the region. Video footage obtained by the private Dogan news agency showed a large plume of smoke rising from the area of the blast, the cause of which was not clear. Mahmut Varol, the deputy mayor of Elazig, said vehicles in front of the building had been burned due to the detonation of a car bomb

Yesterday, The Central BANK OF Nigeria announced a temporary suspension of FCMB Bank along with ither eight other commercial banks from access to the foreign exchange market. This Suspension is based on the Single Account Directive (SAD), which stops banks from holding funds on behalf of government entities and instead, effect daily remittances to CBN.

86 repentant members of the dreaded Boko Haram sect are currently undergoing rehabilitation at the Bulumkutu Rehabilitation Centre Maiduguri, Dr. Mohammed Goni Alkali, managing director of the North-East Development Commission (NEDC) has  said . The former terrorists are sheltered and catered for by the Borno State Government with support from development partners. Meanwhile, the NEDC is set to launch a scholarship program that will sponsor persons affected by insurgency in the region into the academics and to undertake vocational skills. Alkali says this is part of the commission’s effort in alleviating the sufferings of those affected by insurgency. At the Bulumkutu Rehabilitation Centre, the inmates are receiving educational, vocational and moral lessons for future reintegration into the society.
